Susan V. was born and raised in the foothills of rural Appalachia. Though she grew up in the country, she has spent the better part of the past two decades in the city. She loves Jesus, her family & friends, sports, food, art, and travelling. Her sense of humor could be described as a mixture of random and witty and (slightly) biting.
Her journey with writing began in the second grade when her teacher challenged the class to write a poem about a book they read. Susan V.'s teacher liked her poem so much that she entered it to be published in a book of poetry for elementary school students in the foothills region. The poem was chosen for publication and Susan V.'s love for writing was born.
To date, she has published three English children's books and translated two of them into Spanish. She is currently working on the fourth book in her children's series - The Identity Series - as well as other projects. Susan V. also publishes Kairos Calendars that mark time by months mentioned in the Bible. One of the best compliments she ever received was during a conversation about thinking outside of the box. The other person told her, "Susan, you don't even have a box." That pretty much sums it up!

Though I love my last name and it means a lot to me, one day I do hope to get another one = ]. Since I don't want it to be difficult for readers searching for me, I chose an author name that won't have to change even when my legal one does. That being said, I picked "V" to be a last name of sorts because it's my middle initial. My middle name means victorious little rose. The name is perfect because Susan means lily and my first children's book is about a flowerpot!
In addition to calendars and greeting cards, there are several other manuscripts in the works that are not children's books. Some fiction for young adults & adults, non-fiction for adults, etc. And of course I still pen poems from time to time.
One of the things I like most is when I can capture the perfect words to describe or express something. An added bonus is when another person gets hit with the beauty or accuracy of them. Hearing a specific arrangement of letters and how it resonates inside you is wonderful.
Yes! Family, friends, and I grew up playing a lot in our creek. I was digging around one day and found some gray clay in the embankment. So, since a young age, I have been making things out of clay. When I was about 13, I visited the Crayola Factory in PA. One of the things I bought while there was a bucket of white clay. I also took a "Pottery & Fibers" class in high school which I thoroughly enjoyed. And some of the land that used to be my grandma's has a creek with clay in its embankments as well.
Work hard. Play hard. Relax Hard. I have a day-to-day job at a professional practice. For play, I LOVE board games. Connect Four, Catch Phrase, and Imagine If are some of my favorites. I also like to dissect and analyze movies. Family get togethers and seeing my nieces & nephews play ball and perform in dance recitals are my favorites too!
Other than the Bible, I adore Jane Eyre.
