1 Corinthians 3:10-15: "According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."
Past: The seed for TBFP was planted at the bank, of all places. Susan V. was opening a business account to support her writing endeavors when the banker asked a routine question. "What's the name of your company?" It hit her in the moment and made her pause before answering, "Well, I don't have one. But I guess I should come up with something." (*paraphrase)
This spurred Susan V. to be intentional about naming her company and getting it officially incorporated. After praying and thinking about it, the above-mentioned verses stuck out to her. If she was going to dedicate blood, sweat, and tears to something, she wanted it to be for an eternal cause. Thus, Tried By Fire Publications was created.
"Despise not the day of small beginnings..." (*paraphrase* Zechariah 4:10)
Present: The writing journey has not turned out the way Susan V. pictured it - which is not necessarily a bad thing. She did not intend to self-publish, but that is what works for now. Neither did she intend to illustrate her own books, but that is also what happened. Susan V. is dedicated to producing quality work which is why she is practicing digital arts now so her upcoming picture books will be even better. In conclusion, Susan V. is committed to growing in her craft while also enjoying the present moment.
Future: TBFP plans to continually add new products to its catalogue. Specifically in the works are: a fourth book in The Identity Series, calendars based on the months of the year listed in the Bible, and greeting cards. Since the future can be full of surprises, if TBFP comes out with comic strips or board games at some point, it would not be the craziest thing in the world...
